Shrimati Anita RoyShrimati Anita Roy is a bright star in the brilliant galaxy of Maharishi Gandharva Veda musicians. An esteemed vocal artist of Maharishi Gandharva Veda, Anita is a long-time practitioner of the Transcendental Meditation Program. She has traveled extensively to bring the peaceful, balancing, nourishing, and harmonizing influence of Maharishi Gandharva Veda music to countries around the world.

Anita was a student of the late Ustad Mustaq Hussain Khan Saheb of Rampur. She later studied with Maestro Ustad Naseer Zaheeruddin Dagar and Ustad Neseer Faizuddin Dagar, under whose tutelage she mastered her unique vocal style in which the Alaap, the beginning slow segment of the Raga, is presented with the depth and serenity typical of the Dhrupad style. Under the guidance of Smt Sumati Mutatkar, Pandit Ustad Yunus, the famous Ustad Hafeez Ahmed Khan, and Ustad Sarfaraz Hussain Khan, Anita added further dimension and finesse to her unique vocal style.

Anita has appeared on All-India Radio since 1970 as a vocal artist, and she has been a member of the Reference Panel of Artists for the Indian Council for Cultural Relations since 1992. She has earned both MPhil and MA Music degrees in voice from Delhi University. She is a regular teacher and lecturer for the Maharishi Vedic Universities in the U.S.A., The Netherlands, and India, and has conducted training courses in Maharishi Gandharva Veda music in countries all around the world.
